It is believed that performing the dragon dance scares away evil spirits and all the bad luck associated with them, and brings in good luck and wealth instead.

Known as wǔ lóng in Mandarin, the Chinese dragon dance is a festive performance that’s most often seen during the Chinese New Year celebrations. This Chinese dragon dance involves a team of highly skilled performers that move in unison under a large, decorative paper-mâché likeness of a traditional Chinese dragon.
